Fastag is a device that works on the principle of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology to pay the Toll on toll plazas. What are the compulsory documents to buy a Fastag?

Buying a Fastag for your four-wheeler vehicle is very easy. If you are buying a new vehicle, the auto dealer will provide you one by default. But for your old vehicle, you can purchase fastag from any toll plaza or POS location. There you need to submit the form along with a duly attested copy of a few documents which are mentioned below-

  • RC (Registration Copy) of the vehicle
  • A recent passport size photograph of the vehicle owner
  • KYC documents (PAN Card, Driving license, Passport, Aadhar Card, or Voter ID Card)

Also, you must carry the original copy of these documents for the verification process. These documents may be different depending upon the purpose of the vehicle such as private or commercial use.

How to use a Fastag?

When you get the Fastag, to use it, you need to remove the plastic covering and affix this on the windscreen of your vehicle. First-time users can sync the Fastag to their online wallet or any other prepaid account. Online truck booking companies can simply connect your account to Fastag by checking the website of the bank and follow the important steps mentioned there to complete the process. After completing the process, your Fastag will be ready to use.

When you enter the toll plaza, just drive in the lane dedicated to Fastag users. The Fastag will be scanned through the scanner and toll charges will be automatically deducted from the connected online wallet. As the Fastag is valid for five years since the day of activation, you can recharge the wallet by just simply visiting the dedicated online portals developed by the banks. For every Fastag transaction, you will receive SMS alerts and it will also show the balance in your Fastag account.
